I have written several times to the coucil and our MP Robert Syms regarding my opposition to the proposals and I thought I would bring to your attention a website which will help contact all of the councillers and MPs who may assist
hi, i grew up next to the rec (my mother still lives in recreation road) i find it appalling what they wish to do. traffic must be a major concern, its bad as it is ,especially on school days and weekends. lost community space must be of some concern? lastly i dont know if its been mentioned but.. the rec was left by legacy, of lady wimborne, to the people of parkstone as an open space !! for kids to play in NOT for poole borough council to corrupt ! has anybody consulted the land registry office to see WHO the legal owners are?
TURNERS fields (next to the cemetry) are a prime example…he left those fields for the enjoyment of the community… the council have sectioned some of this land off…possible building plots ? more under handedness ?
JUST BECAUSE THEY MAINTAIN IT DOESNT MEAN THEY OWN IT
Where else can I go with a child on a bike, a, teenager with a football, and a dog off the lead away from the inconsiderate car drivers? This is from one of the few Mothers who still lives in a house in Poole unlike all the developments that encourage families to live in a flat. We need every inch of Branksome Rec, and we love every inch of it.
True considerate football fans will want a Stadium on ground that doesn’t compromise the existing open space for free play, true football fans encourage free open play. There are places we can drive to, if you like us poluting the air. If you can’t afford a car it would seem Poole Council don’t care.
Is it the people of Poole’s fault the existing stadium was sold off for other purposes? Do we have to pay the ultimate price for this? Who owns the Rec?
I am thoroughly opposed to the Council’s proposals for the Rec. and am rather disappointed that the action group have not thought to publicise all the meetings, directions to contact MPs etc. more widely. I live in Oine Avenue and ahev not been able to find any details of anything happening. It was only by chance that I happened to meet someone I knew lived very near to the Rec. whilst, waliking the dogs, and asked her what was happeneing. She updated me and kindly went back home to fetch the note about signing the 10 Downing Street Petition. PLEASE in future could the information be spread much wider – the Alder Road shops, Winston Avenue, Gorleston Road – in fact all the local area around the Rec. because it is so widely used by many people from all the area – not just the roads that run alongside it. There isn’t even any information in the POst Office in Alder Road which would be a very good place to get support for the cause.
Hopefully some one can do something about this. Although I am a very busy person I could possibly leaflet some of these areas if there aren’t enough people able to do so.
Regards
Virginia Stacey
Hi We are trying to expand out delivery routes but if anyone can help with delivering leaflets please let us know which street you would like us to cover.
Planning is the next big hurdle. Please watch out for those yellow signs to go up and then write in to the planning department. All details will be posted on this site as to who to write to as soon as we have the information.
Also please attend the Resident’s meeting on the 22nd June as this will provide lots of useful information.
Unfortunately all we can do at present is wait for the planning to be applied for. I get a weekly list from Planning Department and as soon as I am aware I will email everyone on my contacts list and get a message posted on the web site. Then we can all write to Planning Department with our objections.
hey everyone
I would like to leave a comment as from the 22nd of june meeting i am now getting youth people together to show their opinons on the issue as i feel as a young person we were not represented in the issue but were told that all young people were for it to conclude id like to say that if you are agianst and have children against or like to get them invloved or even if your a young peron yourself and would like to get involed just leave a comment on here and i will get back to you
Well done Katie, we really need young people support – so come along use your talents and get us on Facebook Twitter and any other social networking sites. BRAG is supporting Katie in her efforts so please come on join in.
Good afternoon,
I live in Albert Road and use the rec regularly with my 2 boys. The website is great and hopefully the council will see sense. Might I suggest that more photos of a busy rec would show how many people already use it and how the community would suffer if half the rec was lost to a short sighted development.
Hi
Thank you for your positive comments and suggestions.
We would love to have busy pictures on the web site. However, you have to be careful about loading up people’s photographs without permission and especially children. Also, the lack of ‘techie’ knowledge and software to blur faces doesn’t help.
I am a regular user of Recreation Road and Alder Road. The daylong heavy traffic on Alder Road often causes traffic congestion in the area and makes it difficult to enter Alder Road from Recreation Road or Yarmouth Road.
This congestion is only going to get worse as a result of the John Lewis and other Retail outlets as well as the 3000 member DW Fitness Club being developed at the Pottery Roundabout site next to Alder Road.
Adding the traffic resulting from any Football Club development will make the congestion situation in this area intolerable.
Any development plans need to consider the impact the Pottery Junction Retail outlets and Fitness Club will have on the area, particularly increased traffic congestion and the resulting enviromental pollution.
Branksome needs every bit of public open space it already has even more to offset increasing enviromental pollution caused by developments such as the Pottery Roundabout scheme.
We appear to be getting to the end of this hard fought battle and I would just like to say a huge thank-you to all of you at BRAG who haven’t given up and continued to fight even when it seemed the Council were determined to push this scheme through.
I live on Recreation Road and wanted you to know how grateful I am for all you have done!
BRAG’s remit was to ensure that the open space wasn’t lost or walls erected. The Residents Association initial meeting will be held on 20 January 2010 and they will be taking up the modernisation, refurbishments and the installation of new equipment with the council. Anyone willing to help the Residents Association with this task please let us know and we will pass on any messages to them.
branksome rec will become the best ever public green space in poole only if the effort to stop poole fc is carried on to improve the site. The site is run down i hope when you have finished your christmas dinner you do something. No way the site is run down and always will be if left to you.
Yes the next step is to improve the site and local area. However, for this to happen it needs the support of the whole community.
Please come to the New Resident’s Association meeting later this month and show your support for improving the area.

I’ve got an idea! Lets build on the last bit of green area left!
Then people will have less space to play footie, cricket, run, jog, walk dogs, fly kites and have fun.
Anyone who forwards this proposal does so without real consideration for the town of Poole.
Large green spaces are few, building sites are pleanty.

Just heard the appalling news of the vote, what other ways are there now to object to this stadium?

Now that you have your wish and have the Rec as it is – are you planing on plowing funds into updating it ?
As Poole Town council wont and you scared off the only company that wanted to improve it…
